Reading Rocks is an in-depth course with an on-going case study that focuses on the assessment of readers. The cohort group meets twice a month to delve into sophisticated strategies for teaching primary students to read. Participants will learn a variety of new assessments, try them with students, learn to analyze the assessments, and learn to determine clear, targeted teaching points based on data. There will be on-going analysis of student literacy behaviors at the micro level in order to foster robust reading and comprehension behaviors across all developmental levels. This course includes 11 mandatory after school sessions: 9/7, 9/21, 10/5, 10/19, 11/2, 11/16, 12/7, 1/11/1/25, 2/8, 2/22. [This course supports K-2 BAS Level Change Initiative.]
